Perfectly positioned by the surrounding Atlantic ocean, rivers, a lake (Lough Corrib) and the wild Connemara wilderness on its doorstep (including the Twelve Bens mountains) there is never a lack of a new outdoor pursuit to tempt you in Galway. Choose between kayaking, mountain biking, hiking, sailing, running or surfing. Galway is also home to one of the largest Triathlon clubs in Ireland.
Galway is famous for being the festival capital in Ireland - in some years holding over 120 festivals and events for crafts, design, music, performing arts and more.

Galway is packed with fascinating history to discover and enjoy - from wandering the ancient cobbled streets to exploring castles and old ways of life. You could live here for many years and not experience it all!
Ireland’s famous ‘Wild Atlantic Way’ which winds through Galway, is the quintessential road trip packed with stunning scenery (a bit more stunning when it stops raining!), including the UNESCO Global Geopark of The Burren and Cliffs of Moher. A must for anyone visiting or staying in Ireland. Dublin is also just over 2 hours from Galway which makes it a great weekend trip.

For the foodies, Galway was awarded European Region of Gastronomy in 2018 and boasts a number of 5 star and Michelin star restaurants.
Galway has strong schooling options. Three of their secondary schools making it into the top 25 schools in Ireland. There are also two third level education institutes in Galway ensuring a vibrant and diverse learning culture.
