You will work closely with our Art Director to concept original concepts from early production to final render, while also expanding and influencing the future direction of the series. You will create a range of assets from characters, villains and environments while working closely with the AD and the CG Design Team in Dublin.

Triggerfish Animation are looking for an experienced Series Director who is excited about leading on a unique and exciting Netflix original series that is authentically African and will impact young people around the world. The series is in Development and will move straight into pre-production as the funding is in place.

Experienced Animation TV Series Director required to join our expanding production team for a Netflix Original from Africa. The Series Director must have strong creative vision and will be involved in all phases of the production from start to completion. They will work directly with the Series Producer to ensure the production deadlines are met and delivered to world class standard.

This exciting opportunity for a Series Director to work with the pre-production team in Cape Town and CG team in Dublin for a long contract. Remote working may be an option once the team and work pipeline are in a a good place.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Proven ability to meet deadlines and keep a team on schedule

Working knowledge of tools and software such as Cintiq, Photoshop, or other applicable design software

Ability to create concepts for characters, props, and sets

Understanding and experience leading in a TV animation pipeline

Experience supervising a design team including delegating, giving feedback, and providing constructive criticism to creatives

Strong organization and time management skills

A team player with a positive, can-do attitude

Strong knowledge of color theory and lighting

Collaborate with the Producer and Directors to discuss creative ambitions and producibility for development and production of each episode

Oversee workflow to ensure all deadlines are met, communicating with the Producer and Line Producer and/or other departments to anticipate and tackle potential design and production challenges and issues

The Series Director will need to collaborate closely with Head writer, Script department, CG Supervisors, Epsiodic Directors, Production team and Iindividual artists.

More specifically work with Head Writer, Script Editors to ensure storylines are in keeping with approved production parameters.

Lead Storyboard + Animatic phases through to animation + compositing to final picture and sound, ensuring Partners notes are adhered to, throughout the entire process.

Work to approved production schedule and budget.

Work effectively directing all areas of the Production teams.

Proven track record, in depth knowledge and experience of various production pipelines.

Able to travel and work in Cape Town and Dublin for chunks of time, with potential to work remotely.

Strong leadership and ability to manage individuals and various teams.

Experience working in a fast-paced environment

Sound editorial judgement based on previous directing experience.

Excellent communication skills.

Excellent organization skills Motivated and passionate about animation and childrens TV series

The series is about to go into Development and will move straight into Pre-production as the funding is in place.

This role will see the Art Director working with the visual development team in Cape Town (South Africa), the CG 3D team in Dublin (Ireland) and the potential to work remotely.

Our Art Directors are responsible for creating and maintaining the visual style and quality of the show. As the leader of the Design Team, the Art Director should also inspire and elevate the artists to deliver their best work and have fun while doing it! We are seeking candidates who are familiar with a CG animation pipeline and experienced in hands-on production work for design and color. Starting July/ August 2019

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the Producer and Directors to discuss creative ambitions and producibility for development and production of each episode

Oversee workflow to ensure all deadlines are met, communicating with the Producer and Line Producer and/or other departments to anticipate and tackle potential design and production challenges and issues

Develop and communicate a clear design vision (including Characters, Locations, Props, Backgrounds, Lighting, and Color) that will support and maintain the overall creative vision and quality for the story and style of the project.

Participate in the talent acquisition process with the Line Producer to review portfolios and tests, interview candidates, and provide detailed feedback

Prepare for and lead design handouts by communicating overall direction, design requirements, and expected level of polish to the Design team

Participate in design and color reviews, provide clear notes for revisions, and assist with revisions as needed

Oversee creation of style guides and communicate creative notes to Partner Studios

Liaise with Studio Management and Show Leadership to manage the creation of assets for PR, Marketing, and CP

Provide status updates, troubleshoot, and review potential changes on a regular basis with production staff

Mentor and support the Design team and cultivate positive team morale

The 9 month paid internships run from January 2019 to the beginning of October and are an invaluable opportunity to get practical experience working alongside the best artists and animation professionals in the country while being directly involved in high quality animated film productions for international release. These Internships are limited to South African graduates who have not yet been employed in the industry, but who hold an Animation or Film and TV-related Degree, National Diploma or National Certificate from a recognised South African institution.
